Beaches

Comporta is known for its idyllic settings, with extensive sands of the most stunning beaches on the Alentejo coast. Make sure to explore the region's incredible beaches during your stay with us.

AlmaLusa Comporta is just a 15-minute walk from Comporta Beach. However , this isn't the only beach in the region, so we've compiled a selection of must-see beaches on our app.

Horse riding

If you are looking for unique experiences during your stay in Comporta, allow us to suggest: a horse-riding trip which will take you through the most amazing path between never ending rice fields, pine forests and white sand dunes until the beach.

The trip may be made in group, in pre-set schedules or as a private activity at a time of your choosing (upon availability) and with more flexibility in the route choice.

Melides by horse

Melides by horse offers horseback rides throughout the year. All horses are easy to ride and calm. Clients don't need to be the world's best riders to participate in this experience, and even if they are, they will still find a special way to visit and see the breathtaking views of Alentejo.

Birdwatching

Discover a true paradise for nature and birdwatching enthusiasts. The Sado Estuary Natural Reserve hosts thousands of birds and is considered one of the most important bird watching areas in the country.

Tour of the Sado Estuary
During this experience, you will have direct contact with the history of the region, such as salt production and rice fields,
as well as going up the river in search of various species, such as colonies of flamingos, herons, cormorants, among many others.

Climbing the Alcácer do Sal River
During the journey, you can observe the beauty of the south channel, Cavalo Island and the Palafítico Pier.
Along the way you can see the banks of the rice fields and the salt flats, where you can regularly see
birds such as herons and flamingos. Once in Alcácer, there will be a 30-minute stop to admire the city.

Horses in the river

The "Horses in the River" tour combines the elegance of horses with a canoe trip along the banks of the River Sado.

Departing from the Hotel Rural Casa das Cegonhas in Herdade de Porches, the tour begins with a horseback ride toward the Sado River, where you'll travel approximately 3 km by canoe. Taking advantage of the tidal movement, you'll disembark at the North or South pier and resume the final stretch of the journey. The last 30 minutes are spent on horseback, enjoying the ride back to Casa das Cegonhas.

Afterwards, guests can enjoy a delicious picnic, upon prior arrangement. This tour is available with or without a picnic included.

Boat trip up the Sado

We invite you to embark on a boat trip on the River Sado with a choice of two destinations: Alcácer do Sal or Serra da Arrábida. Along the way, enjoy the tranquillity, landscape and the surrounding environment. You will have the opportunity to observe birds, rice fields, salt pans and the region's famous Roman ruins.

Alcacer do Sal
This is a cruise along the Sado River, passing Phoenician ruins, salt flats, and rice paddies. Upon arrival in Alcácer do Sal, you'll have the opportunity to sample local fishermen's produce. You can also enjoy a meal in the Alcácer area (at each passenger's own expense).

Arrábida Mountains
The route runs through the Sado Estuary Nature Reserve, passing through Troia, where you can see Roman ruins. Near the Serra da Arrábida, you'll have the opportunity to cool off with a swim before beginning the return journey through Setúbal.
